Mercedes-Benz Fund

Between 1975 and 1979, the former Daimler-Benz AG transferred a special endowment fund to the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft e.V. with the proviso that its income be used for the promotion of science and research as well as of young scientists and engineers. Effective 1 January 1988, this special fund was converted into an unincorporated foundation operating within the Stifterverband, now known as the Mercedes-Benz Fund.

Funding Priorities

The Mercedes-Benz Fund fulfils its statutory mandates through the income generated from its foundation assets and from regular donations from its founder.

In 2023, the Mercedes-Benz Fund strategically aligned its funding programme to prioritise the cultivation and application of future skills in order to bolster Germany's sustainability, innovative prowess, and competitive edge in an evolving global landscape. The funding programme is divided into two primary fields of action:

Foundation assets approx. 3.5 million euros
Annual funding volume approx. 1 million euros

Application process

The foundation considers itself an operational foundation, meaning it actively engages in the development and implementation of its funding projects within its own priority programme. Given that the foundation's funds are currently allocated to specific projects within this programme, it is not accepting external funding applications at this time.
